So over the past few months, and after my awesome vacation (i'll have to make a travel log post soon w the HUNDREDS of pix we took), I am in a contemplative spot (again, or maybe i never leave this spot). I keep thinking about things I have learned and things I continue to learn. The biggest "ah ha" lately is that I'm really happy to be getting older and WISER! It seems like I keep gaining more and more wisdom each day. From little things, like learning a new word or recipe to really BIG things like "Wow, now I understand so much better how my emotional state and how i let it control me (or how I control it) can really affect the people around me (most notably, my children)."
Another big "ah ha" is now I have decided to embrace the concept that each new day is really a NEW day -- or a "DO OVER". It's not that I want to change everything I did the previous days, months or years, but I want to enter the day as innocent as a child who knows nothing and looks at everything with the wide-eyes and possesses the true awe of excitement, wonder and curiosity of what they are experiencing. This "ah ha" started on my birthday when I wrote:
Another response to this "Do Over" approach to life is that I'm going to think of each day as a mini-vacation. I'm going to try to find ways to make the regular mundane things in life (like eating a meal and/or cleaning the house) more fun and more like a vacation. For example, this morning I ate breakfast out on our beautiful new screened porch (thank you CHRIS for all your hard work in making this new addition a reality). It's a nice cool day and the birds are twittering (now i'm imagining them up in the trees w little p.c.'s and iphones)....and I ate mangos, grapes, and whole wheat pita with crunchy peanut butter....AH, such a nice little mini-vacation.
Also, I will be having a conference call here in a little bit and I decided to bring the p.c. out on the beautiful porch to look at e-mails and WORK right here in our own little bit of paradise!
Another great part of the "Do Over" way of life is that you can start your diet and exercise program AGAIN each new day! I can choose a more healthy way of living each new day!
There are so many other things I have been contemplating and things that I am realizing are really important lessons. One of them being that I cannot let the "procrastination-butt-numbing-brain-dulling hobby" of viewing FB and other stuff online take over so much of my time. I'm going to try to limit my p.c. time or make it a small reward for AFTER i finish my chores...
Well, better sign off for now....more later.

other good things about the "Do Over" approach: excitement of trying new foods, entertainment of listening to new music or discovering new art, BEST=spending time w old friends and learning more about them and making new friends too!
