AHA Moments Still Happen Past 55!

If you don't like learning or growing, please stop reading right now!

I LOVE LEARNING and growing and discovering "new" concepts. But I also feel kind of stupid when I realize I didn't know something that is supposedly "common knowledge"...but then I don't beat myself up too terribly since

I LOVE LEARNING!

So here's a random thing I "learned/discovered" a few weeks ago:

Common Unity = Community

I saw a newspaper opinion piece in the Colorado Springs Gazette on August 25 by Rachel Stovall titled "An inspiring understanding of common unity" <<DO READ IT, it's really good)....I actually snapped this picture so I'd remember to write about this!

...back to my HUGE AHA moment ....is "Common Unity" the origin of "community"? So I looked it up and found this: "The original idea of 'community' meant 'common unities' – people with a common purpose, common values, and living in unity."

We all have several communities where we "belong" by our common purpose, values and choose to live in unity. This would be our churches, service clubs, sports teams, etc. But we also live in communities that are a mix of people with a variety of points of view, backgrounds, beliefs, purposes and values. Can we call this a community if we only live proximity without common purpose, values, and live in unity?

I'll be thinking more deeply about this....in the meantime, thank you for reading.
