About Sheila & Her Blog

I started this blog in October 2008 right before my life turned upside down.

I am basically an open-book, authentic person who wants to help others find their own peace and happiness ... (who also loves ORANGE). I am on a quest to #Search4Sagacity.

Why I work on this blog:

  • download "stuff" out of my brain so I stay somewhat sane....a great coping mechanism to deal w the stresses in my life.
  • provide a way for my friends and family to understand me a little better.
  • share issues/topics/information that may be entertaining and/or useful to others.

I used to worry over wanting people to read and respond to this blog, but now I just do this for myself and if someone comments once in a while then that's a little BONUS!

UPDATES:

January 1, 2022

You can look at my entries from 2019, 2020, and 2021  to see that I didn't say much, but my world was fairly OK! Therefore, I didn't have a strong need to blog (on the premise that I use this to stay sane).

But on this first day of 2022, I want to "renew" my interest in writing on my blog so that I can better organize what and how I say things. I feel I have more to say, but unsure what that might be. I think I use all my organizational skills at work and have none of that ability in my personal life. I really try and have so many different "systems" (i.e. calendars, planners, To Do Lists, files, etc.) to attempt to appear organized, but there are SOOOO MANY of these that the organization is DISORGANIZED!!

OTHER UPDATES from previous years:

January 5, 2019: I AM STILLLLLLLL HERE blogging 10 years later! Last year, I started a series called "50 Things I've Learned in 50 Years" (b/c i turned 50 on June 24, 2018) and I'm still slogging thru it, but up to Lesson #31.

Also, NEXT WEEK I start a new professional adventure as the 1st FULL-TIME (in 85 years) Development and Communications Director for Clearwater Camp for Girls (where Q has been a camper for 4 years and a 4th generation camper following her aunt, grandmother and great grandmother....)! I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED to be paid to be at the lake and foster confidence, courage, compassion and community – four points on Clearwater’s compass – by providing a traditional sleepaway camp experience for girls.

Leave me a comment...or not. Just ENJOY...or not! LOL

July 2017 (that's me and our dog, Fella a few weeks ago): I haven't blogged much over the past few years...life turned upside down AGAIN in 2016 when our mother died.  A year and a half later, I still struggle with grief and other difficulties that I keep private out of respect for others' lives that it affects.  My little family unit of me, husband and two kids is really pretty wonderful and they keep me from totally spinning down into despair and negativity.  Other parts of life are up and down and as a control freak, this bothers me...but overall I remain loyal to the idea of positivity, faith in God, and inner peace to make it through.

January 2015!  I am now in a much better place and credit this writing on a blog as a good therapy for me.  I notice that people who blog or hang around a lot on Facebook tend to have some "issues" or reasons why they need this outlet for their stress....that has been me over the past couple of years.
